Crossbow Safety
Equipment Check
Before each use, inspect all equipment (crossbow, bowstring, cables, arrows, etc.) to ensure the crossbow is correctly assembled and in good condition. Never use a damaged crossbow or equipment.
Hand Safety
Never place your fingers or thumbs on, in, or near the arrow track, bowstring, or cables. Doing so can result in serious injury, including the amputation of fingers or thumbs.
Trigger Safety
Keep your finger off the trigger and the safety engaged until you are ready to shoot. If you decide not to shoot, re-engage the safety.
Using Your Crossbow
Always point the crossbow in a safe direction (i.e., a direction where firing would not harm anyone or anything), regardless of whether it is loaded.
Dry-Firing
Never dry-fire the crossbow (i.e., releasing the cocked string without a recommended arrow properly loaded). Dry-firing will immediately void the warranty and cause catastrophic damage to the crossbow.
Arrow Selection
Use only arrows that meet the required specifications (stiffness/spine), dimensions (length), and weight, and are equipped with moon or half-moon nocks. All Aurixon crossbows come with compatible arrows; please contact us if you need more.
Proper Loading
Before shooting, ensure the crossbow is fully cocked and the arrow is correctly loaded.
Safely Uncocking
The only way to release the tension on a cocked crossbow is to fire it at a safe target. Never attempt to uncock the crossbow by hand or using a rope cocking device; doing so puts you at risk of personal injury.
Footwear
Always wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes or boots when operating the crossbow. Never operate it while barefoot or wearing flip-flops or open-toed sandals.
Basic Maintenance
Inspect the bowstring and cables for signs of wear; replace them if wear is detected before further use. To extend the lifespan of the string and cables, apply lubricating wax every 5 to 10 shots or whenever “white fuzz” appears. Failure to follow these instructions may result in breakage during use, thereby damaging the bow or causing personal injury.
